fat leg update.....

due to increased pain in my leg i went to the doctors this morning. then spent the afternoon in a&e. got seen by the nurse practitioner and the registrar. x-ray and bloods taken. no break but they were concerned about the swelling to my calf and possible clots. left calf is 3 inches bigger than right. bloods came back 'ok' but need to return to clinic on monday. have been told to do NOTHING, use crutches and continue to 'rice'.

i asked about 'puffer, they said "no"...after i'd convinced them that it wasn't a joke. needless to say the west highland way training is going to need some tweaking...

Poor Kate. Just make sure you do as the Doc says and rest. No cheaky runs!

I've only get to 'bump off' another 14 people now and I might be in Puffer!

Gutted for your leg Kate, (am still wincing here at the thought of the shin pain), hope you recover quick and get back to some action. All the best for 2010 - looking forward to reading more of your brilliant blog stories in the New Year, RB.

Ouch! I know how you feel. I ended up getting a blood clot after re-constructive knee surgery and had to inject warfarin into my own stomach. Not good. Loving your revised 'What I should be doing'.

red- at the moment i could enter a crawling race!

julbags- now i know where you got your fear from :(

SS- thanks and i shall!

uc- cheers. been thinking about training and strangely i came up with the same plan ;)

rb- thanks for the sympathy. maybe i should just stick to running ;)

trio- Dr said probably 3-4 weeks of nothing! even if ok-ish for 'puffer then i'd probably do even more damage.

thunder- that sounds horrible! my issue is that the bruise has now where to go and is making is feel like someone's pouring boiling water down my shin :(

Yes but they are used to dealing with non-active people.

Fingers crossed that you heal quicker than they think!

Bad luck, sure it will come good. Bit of rest and I sure you will come back fighting. Take it easy.

trio- i hope you're right but i've got to keep my eye on the 'big one', so to speak

ben- thanks, just running out things to do at home ;)

groover- thank you! i have new found respect for you and how you dealt with gf. i've only been 'house bound' for 8 days and i'm going stir crazy!

charlie- cheers. hoping that if i follow advice to the letter then recovery will be quicker :)

OMG Kate. I've just looked at your fat leg slideshow. Its horrific. I think I'm traumatised. It must have killed! Multicoloured leg injuries of this kind are deserving of signicantly more post grumbles and whimpers than so far seen. Get to it. Lots of tea and sympathy from me, RB x

stustod- cheers. not even thinking about the miles lost ....

rb- thank you :) leg less fat now, more just a bit lame. but definitely on the mend

Thanks for getting in touch.

If I can help with your whw preparation just let me know. When I first entered the whw in 07 I set up my blog to help others as there wasn't as much information on the web as there is now.

I'l also add your blog to our whw blog roll if that's okay?
