and relax...

yes, the sun is shinning, it's a light blue cloudless sky and just a slight breeze. all this i can see from my bed! post kielder i was rota'd three consecutive 'long days'. 100 miles is nothing compared to those three shifts! i'm really enjoying work but it's going to be a while before i get used to the long hours again.

amazingly i've managed lose 5lbs of my 'office fat' without even noticing. which is all good and going to make my return to running a little easier. i've a half marathon in 10 days. i ran 3 miles on tuesday evening and it hurt. a lot.

gross self portrait-a small selection of the 68 bites i sustained from my midge assault at kielder. the astute may also notice yet another toe nail about to fall off. at least they don't itch anymore but i do look quite contagious in my running shorts!

If it makes you feel better - post-Croatia I looked like a vampire had just nibbled its way down my leg, I had so many bites in straight lines - bloody mossies must have just grazed their way across my legs.

Post-Egypt last year I supplemented all my mossie bites with a beautiful case of board rash from the windsurfer and an absolutely technicolour collection of bruises, scrapes and jellyfish stings - I think my legs are mecca for injuries of all types!

At least they're not itching any more - that's positively the worst thing!

Nice toenail ;)

Even covered in the infamous "Skin so Soft" I got severely midged at Ten under the Ben last year - locals recommended Piriton which seemed to work quite well for reducing the aftermath of itching etc.

I think we should have a re-count. I can only count 67.

Poor Teacake.

Oddly mine are all on the back of my legs!

Midgies suck for sure. I hate them and that seems to not put them of me. Lucky we heal fast. Good luck with the run.

Nasty. Next time cycle faster to outrun the midges.

I thought the photo was one of those dot-to-dot pictures but I can't work out what it is.

Youch! They got you good - some porky sizes midges up at Kielder I reckon. Hope the pre HM race week goes to plan (lots of eating and resting!?), looking forward to reading how you get on, RB.
