expensive knees

there's not been a whole lot of running recently. laziness 'n' booze have been contributing factors but the main reason has been 'a pain in the knee'. it's been a bit iffy since that race in scotland. i've just ignored it and hoped it would go away. it hasn't and i need to start training again. we're supporting gaynor on a ridiculous 100 miler in october.

another trip to sally (the physio). this time i have water on the knee. which i think sounds rather quaint, if painful. more exercises and stretching but the magic is how to tape your patella. done properly and i can run pain free. best start now!

gaynor's feet...must keep up...

just reading a brilliant book ( for a non runner?) called bere foot running or something... about ultra marathons, bare feet running and mexican tribes people. you'd like it Kate and might help that knee?

So you'll be taped together!

Doesn't sound like a long term solution - what happens when it rains!?

jumbly- yup.

simon- thank you, i'll now refer to my aliment correctly. i assume riding fixed has mended it ;)

ppc- how weird, jane's just bought that book. will give it a read.

chris- i'll carry spare tape ;) ...no, it's not a solution...

groover- are you saying it's only going to get worse!!

uc- that's worst case scenario-i'd rather avoid hospitals ;) but maybe

vdubber- at least biking's not as painful.

Lazy, booze and no training. I have done that lots. Hope the knee heals. My old ankle injury led to a bit of pain on my last trip. Annoying and to a runner like you an injury must be real frustrating.

martin- glad to hear you've been having fun! you're it's frustrating but at least i can still get out there-trying to be positive ;)

Knees were quite obviously a 'Friday afternoon job' by whoever designed and built the human body. I'm sure I'll be nursing my Steve Austin knee for the rest of my life. In the meantime Glucosamine, yoga, avoiding tarmac and squats are the only things that keep it going.

joe- it does seem to be the pay off for having outdoor fun! hope you manage to take your own advice -i will try! and get out for autumn exploring.

so you're knees have got dodgy? sometime soon after some bike epic on a single speed? i can't believe it!

i'm retaining my fear of being on the other side of the hospital divide and fiddling with bike setup. reasonably successfully!

swiss- that is merely a coincidence i can assure you. i share your fear, particularly when there was talk of getting my knee drained. keep fiddlin' :)
