i think i'm running out of ways to describe snow. i'm certainly running low on words for ice. but i'll never tire of these conditions. another absolutely glorious day in the dark peak. another day of bloody hard work. another day of being thankful for snow accessories. without the spontaneous purchase of some microspikes on the way to the hills this morning, i don't think we'd have got out of the car park. maybe a little over kill on some trods but you can't put a price on the confidence they give in these now indescribable conditions.

Another great day out!
Be good if the conditions hold for the HPM :)
i played out in mine too yesterday..they're the bees knees aren't they!
What make did you buy? Have been considering a purchase too but confused by all the makes and models...
Snow and Sun!!! Now very jealous. No snow here and no sun yesterday on my run on the moors, however I had to use my Kahtoolas for the whole run as we have had freezing rain here. 5 miles running on pretty much pure ice. Everything was glazed up (gates, walls, trails, trees). It was actually quite stunning, just a shame it was so overcast.
Once I trusted to the grip it was quite amusing steaming past people having to slowly pick their way very slowly down the edges of the trails. My feet were a bit sore by the end.
ian- i hope it either gets colder or much warmer. quite a few bruises from going through the crust of the snow.
uc- aren't they just! how have we ever run without them?!!
rb- we got these. they are so light and easy to use. from the pictures they look like they'd be bulky but would easily fit in a small bum bag. can't believe we've managed so long without them! i think they're probably the best for running in as they seem quite durable and worked well on mixed ground where we were too lazy to take them off ;) i'm not very good at gear reviews but i would say just buy these!
julbags- yeh, we were really lucky with the weather yesterday. started to get a bit overcast towards the end. the spikes just give so much confidence don't they? i wonder if your feet would be a bit sore from the hard ground anyway?
Definitely, I'm not particularly running conditioned at the minute. Though a couple of times I felt the spikes being pushed up into the soles of my feet on really rocky bits. Normally conditions are a bit more mixed so its not so sustained but yes I have cyclists feet atm (or maybe that should be swimmers feet given my lack of bike mileage).
oo..yours are very posh ..mine are more basic..will blog them..but do a great job all the same
I want some
You are making me nervous, Kate! Do I need to buy studded tires? :-)
Told ya!!! Glad they are working out well, I useed mine every day last week! :-)
Ta for the link, shopping done - will await postal treat.
julbags- nah, i think running on frozen ground always makes your feet feel stiff and achy. good to hear you're still swimming :)
uc- well you know us ;) to be honest we didn't really research them, they were the only ones in the shop. but yes, they were expensive for what is essentially a piece of rubber and chain!!
sbrt- defo worth it! you could easily wear them with other shoes too.
groover- i'd bring your turbo ;) 'unfortunately' it's warming up here now :(
simon- i will never doubt you again!
rb- great stuff, you wont be disappointed, even if the ice is now gone :(
