I been looking for a new job since I started my current one 8 weeks ago. The job paper is very thin these days and I have very little in the way of actual qualifications. My main requirements are a little more than the minimum wage, no shift work, every weekend off and not making money for some big business-I know this might be a little fussy!

I have spotted a job (it's not particularly interesting) that's a few more penny's, no shifts, a cycle to work scheme and strictly Monday to Friday. It would be a 15 mile commute on county lanes (there is a possible bus option) but there is also the possibility of various linking bridleways. Now I know the lure of a 'crosser is probably not the best reason to change employment but it certainly helps!

So on to today's ride. I took the road route to my potential new employment! Blue skys and undulating country lanes. 80% of the route was new to me and I'm so pleased to have discovered it. Now where's that application form...

Sounds good, could you find me a job please? I need one that starts the 1st Jan and a nice commute would be perfect!

I think a commute is a great reason, I think a good commute kept me in my current employment longer than I should have stayed.

Cycle to work scheme means an affordable 'crosser and a route to ride it on, hmmm, sounds like a good reason to change jobs to me. Good luck!

The big deciding factor for me working for my current company was that they had showers and bike racks (I said this was priority at interview!). The commute is longer than I used to have but I like the route I have now and I get to run at lunchtimes on the beach if I want.

Julbgs what a sensible reason for taking a job! I'm looking for jobs and what the commute is like features in my decisions!
