maybe it's still possible

I've decided to take the gratefully received advice people have kindly left following recent posts. More speed work, better recovery and patience will be my mantra from now on. This is officially a week off 'proper' training, an emphasis on fun.

25 miles of post work DAYLIGHT riding, following yesterday afternoons running about the woods with Jane. bgr is still on...

That's the spirit! ie more tea, more cake! (?!)

When you've a goal in sight, it can be easy to lose the 'fun' element (trio has the right idea with her 'adventures' motto).

On the topic of recovery, just seen some advice on an England Athletics flyer, something I hadn't really grasped before: "Don't increase your training without increasing your rest periods to compensate".

Glad to hear you're on the mend Kate. Training is as much a mind game as a challenge for the body I think. Being cautious in how far you push yourself, being consistent in the sessions you do and caring about your body enough to rest as much as you work it. These things will get you where you want to be. And of course, enjoy it! :)

jo-you're exactly right, it's probably been lack of tea and tea that's got me down ;) interesting idea about recovery too.
rb-again great advice, there must be something in those softies ;) thanks.

I'm having a bit too much rest lately but I was kind of getting a bit "why am I doing this" with the marathon but I really enjoyed my last long run so hopefully I'll get properly motivated again.

People on marathon forums talk about "taper madness", I'm actually looking forward to taper, perhaps that's completely the wrong attitude!

I'm lobbying for more posts about tea and cake and less of this training rubbish.
