speed work...

i was off work yesterday. it seemed to be raining every time i looked out the window. hmmmm, the plan of a fast 5 miler wasn't going to happen and my legs still had essence of pendle in them. all was not last though. a night ride over the border in derbyshire. proper hills, proper mud and folks on 'proper' bikes. there's nothing like trying to beat gears up a hill. an evening of interval training.

edit **
thanks to jane's help i did do an easy 4 after work as planed

It has to be said that singlespeeding is always an interval session. But no it can't count!

Are you going to add a what you have done to what I should be doing?

I'm still trying to get my gears sorted so that I can join the local quick group on a Thursday.

I don't have any trouble keeping up uphill off-road. It's when they hit the road that I can't keep up.
(I also can't keep up downhill, although thats got nothing to do with gears.)

Can we please use the Scandinavian term for interval training please? Fartlek. He he he! See, even the name makes it sound more fun!

We should do it again soon.

I've always liked Fartlek, great word.

I think you must have done the 4 easy running miles as well as the biking but not blogged about it. I refuse to believe you've wobbled off the programme already, don't make me have to start shouting run, kate, run so early on in the support schedule. I haven't got shouting penciled in until race day!

trio- experimenting with blogger gadgets things. i've just taken delivery of a garmin :)

red- yeh, they still have to wait at the bottom for me :(

thunder- FART-lek, FART-lek, FART-lek

chris- sure was but i got to bed really late :(

jumbly- no shouting needed just yet. just means that i've got my 'fartlek' after work on sunday-then i will need the shouting ;)

OMG. Did I read that right? You've purchased a Garmin? Was very impressed you got out for your run in the end. The gadget news has stolen that particular thunder... which one did you get?

rb- oh yes, i'm getting serious ;) it's a forerunner 305. not quite sure how to use it properly yet-too much info that i don't know what to do with!

There is still loads of stuff my forerunner does I have not used yet. It is an amazing piece of kit. But as it does so much it can be hard to get the best out of it.

Do you use a PC or a mac?

kate said...

trio- yeh, i am a bit baffled at the moment. we use mac and j's got the ascent programe. still just playing with it really

If you had a PC I would be more helpful! I use sportstracks which is amazing but believe it only works on PC's.
